Cyber City Survivor

Base trudged the city's back alleys, it was meant to be a replacement for Robotropolis when Robotnik crushed the northern resistance and its branches. Windy followed behind, she wasn't used to being in the field. Veejay had insisted the two do a recon mission of the city, as it had seemed to just sprung out of the soil.

The mission had gone ugly quickly, as the city was always changing someway or another to keep intruders from mapping it. This was Robotnik's contingency plan, and Snively was bringing it to life before it was complete, and that was their saving grace right now. The city wasn't at full power, though, it was made completely of the nanite technology that had been in Base's metal limbs when he had them, now only the arm remained as Veejay had managed to change back his eye.

Now here they were, a medic with no field experience, and a frontliner trying to sneak though this new city; Cyber City.

Windy sniffled,"Base, I'm cold, its getting dark, we should set up camp."

Base looked around, leading her over to a shadowed area in the back alley,"Here's as good as anything. We can't risk a fire, it'll give us away."

Windy hugged herself and looked away,"I see--huh?"

Base had removed his jacket when she'd looked away and was holding his coat out to her with his metal arm, the arm now ended with Base's glove and gauntlet, him trying to cover the majority of it up. She looked into his eyes, genuine concern shone in his eyes, for all his tough front-

"Take it."

She snapped out of her trance and took the coat,"Thanks, mate." she said pulling her arms through the sleeves.

Base leaned against the metal wall and slid to the ground with a sigh,"Don't mention it, tomorrow we'll keep trying to find our way out of here, we have to be near the edge at the very least."

Windy sat down next to Base,"I'm sorry I'm not much use out here."

"Don't talk like tha-ACHOO!" Base wiped his nose with his thumb,"Cripes."

Windy looked at his face,"I told you it was cold...here, take your jacket back."

Base grabbed her hand when it went to remove the jacket,"I'm fine, I'm...er...weathered."

Windy glared at him,"Bullshit."

"Used to be?"

"Bullshit."

Base leant against the wall and looked to the darkened sky,"Listen, I'll be fine."

Windy blushed and bit her lip, she hugged around Base's waist and laid her head on his shoulder,"We can...we'll share our body heat, it'll keep you warm as well."

Base blushed, his whole face went red, he placed his hand on the back of her head and averted his gaze,"...if you insist."

The night moved slowly, Windy slowly drifted to sleep, Base stayed up the whole night watching over her, he sighed and stroked her head quills,"Don't worry...out here, I'll keep you safe...we'll make it back okay, Windy."

Windy's arms tightened around his waist, he head snuggled under his more, and she smiled a little in her sleep,"Mmm......chocolate."

Base smiled and rolled his eyes, he looked up to the moon and stars, and noticed that for the first time since the Robotnik was defeated, that he could feel his heart beating in his chest.

I wonder if you'll be...the one to calm this raging storm...that's inside of me.

Base and Windy end up in Robotnik's nanite city he's building in Downunda; Cyber City, trapped the two have to rely on eachother to escape the city alive, and as Veejay probably intended sending them out alone on a recon mission, grow a little closer.
